The second Masters League of 2025 saw a great turnout from the veterans of Telford AC
New member Mel Bolding had a great day, with a new PB of 30.7 seconds in the 200m. Alice Bates had a similar story, with her debut at 32.9 in her first 200m. Renee Christiansen, the U15 YDL Manager, had her first taste of action on the other side of the clipboard, with a debut performance of 35.6 seconds in her 200m. Finally Telford AC superstar Helen Watson rounded out the 200m performances with 36.0 seconds.
Not satisfied with just one event, Alice Bates did FOUR events in her TAC debut, also competing in the 400m (84.9 seconds), long jump (3.66m) and high jump(1.05m).
Nicky Stevenson and Branka Sukara-Fielding stepped up to compete in the 800m, with Branka achieving 4 mins 27.5. Jane Tench and Helen Watson entered the one mile race, with Jane achieving 13 min 40 and Helen 10 min 6 seconds.
Two TAC athletes went in the long jump, Ray Bacon jumped 3.10m and Jane Tench jumped 3.41m. Royal Sutton Coldfield's Janice Pryce set a new British Record for over-65s in the triple jump with 8.38m, whilst Helen Watson jumped 6.95m.
Simon Brown dominated the shot putt with an 1166.m throw, with teammate Ray Bacon throwing 8.51m and Kim Davies putting 7.18m. The discus saw similar success with Eli Barnett throwing 20.62m and Ray Bacon throwing 33.94m. In the women's discus, Branka Sukara-Fielding threw 20.91m and Telford AC's masters coach Pat Higgins threw 12.45m.
A phenomenal turnout in the throws was continued in the hammer, where Ray Bacon spun to 40.07m, Pat Higgins threw 22.12m and Jane Tench 13.52m.
The javelin was the final throw with Simon Brown throwing 31.54m, Kim Davies throwing 13.07m, and Pat Higgins throwing 13.01m.
